Distance dependence of the tunneling Matrix Element (ME) in the Ru(III/II)-(Gly)5-Cu(I/II) system shown above.
The ME is calculated using the tunneling flux theorem (see figure below). The model system mimics the
tunneling path of ET in Ru-modified azurin proteins.
